§ 4-1. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Intoxicating liquor means and includes alcohol for beverage purposes, alcoholic, spirituous, vinous, fermented, malt or other liquors, or combination of liquors, a part of which is spirituous, vinous or fermented, and all preparations or mixtures for beverage purposes, containing in excess of one-half of one percent by volume.

    Malt liquor means and includes any beer manufactured from pure hops or pure extract of hops, and pure barley malt or other wholesome creams or cereals and wholesome yeasts and pure water, and free from all harmful substances, preservatives and adulterants, and having an alcoholic content in excess of 3.2 percent by weight and not in excess of five percent by weight.

    Wholesaler means and includes any person who maintains, or is in charge of, any place of business or depot in the city where intoxicating liquor is kept or stored for sale to any other licensed dealer.
