§ 40-24. Street grade.

  • (a)

    Established by survey. The grades of the streets shall be established by topographic survey to the nearest 1/100 of a foot referenced to city datum as provided in this section. Plans shall be prepared for street construction and benchmarks established along the construction route at a rate of one per block by looping and closing the level circuit from the nearest established benchmark. Benchmarks shall be located outside the construction area and the elevations shown on plans. Elevations of the street shall include the centerline, gutter or ditch flow line and top of curb, if any, at a minimum of 100-foot intervals.

    (b)

    Location and elevation of benchmark. The city datum is based on a U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey brass cap disk benchmark stamped "Z 106 1934" and located nine feet northwest of the northwest corner of the post office located at 11th Street and Gulf Street. The elevation of the disk is 958.09 feet above sea level.
